so that happened

with the five million music blogs out there that are all doing what i was trying to do here, but way better, it became tiring and pointless to try to keep up with the joneses. most of my posts came from these other music blogs anyway!

so while this blog is on an indefinite hiatus, check out my latest blogging shenanigans at

the bloody beetroots

Oh oh oh jam. One of my current favorite electro bands is The Bloody Beetroots, who hail from Italy.

They just did a mix for No Love Lost Records and the first ten minutes ripped my face off. Honestly, I was listening to it at the gym and it put a huge smile on my face. Check em out on Myspace and download the NLLR mix here.

i love you but i’ve chosen electro

I plan on getting my electro on tonite to Le Castle Vania, aka DJ Dylan, aka Dylan Eiland, who originally hails from Hotlanta. He’s playing tonite at Dance night at Arena in Los Angeles. Print out this pass and use it before 10:30pm for $5 cover. =]

Check out his songs “Tigertron” and “Trouble in Daylight” on his Myspace.

Here he is rocking the premiere of Dance night at Arena last November:

yelle if you heart frenchies

The French dance music train is going full steam ahead. I’ve been rocking out to Yelle, a French singer who clearly intends to keep the partyyy going. She will be playing Coachella 26 April 2008. Looks like you better get there early if you wanna catch her.

I love her song “A Cause Des Garcons” and the Tektonik remix on her Myspace. Enjoy the video here:

In Los Angeles concert news tonight, Vampire Weekend will be performing for free at Amoeba at 7pm.

Hot Chip has postpwn3d their show at the El Rey originally scheduled for tonight. (I heard it’s because a band member is sick, but I cannot confirm.)

kate walsh

I saw this amazing British singer Kate Walsh on Conan last night. She performed “Your Song,” and whoah girl, she really got my estrogen flowin’.

Listen to the song on her Myspace. I’m also quite fond of her songs “Bury My Head” and “Fireworks.” She will play at the Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles 19 March 2008.

blamma! blamma!

I got a fever, and the only prescription… is more electro!

Here’s Blamma! Blamma! from London dropping some amazing original electro beats as well as remixes of The Teenagers, Maximo Park and Rival Joustas.

They’re also sharing a 30-minute mix for free which you can download here.

Oh blam. Thanks Tim Jim.

The Blow is playing the Henry Fonda Theater tonite in Los Angelizzz. I would.

If you happen to be in Australia this February or March, don’t miss your chance to party with Corey!

teenagers invade los angeles

The Teenagers are here, and have two shows in Los Angeles this week. Tonight (22 Jan 2008) at The Echo and tomorrow night at Spaceland. They were also just confirmed to play Coachella 26 April 2008. Local favorites Mezzanine Owls are opening for them at The Echo tonight.

Hailing from France, they’ve just recorded their debut album Reality Check, to be released in the USA 18 March 2008 (digital copy for sale online now). Hit up their Myspace and play “Homecoming,” “Starlett Johannsson,” and “Sunset Beach.” (Lyrics unsafe for work.) If you’re not down, well, maybe you were never a teenager!

mono taxi

Mono Taxi is one of those bands I stumbled across on Myspace and I’ve been listening to them ever since. They’re from London and only have a handful of songs to offer, but I love what I hear and hope the drop an album soon.

Their song “Kind of Better” is what first got my attention, which you can hear on their Myspace. They also just unleashed their new song and video “The Sound of You”:

dusty kid

Electro kids, eat your heart out. My homey Sonic Tim dropped this one on me last night: “The Riot” by Dusty Kid, who is Italian DJ Paolo Alberto Lodde.

Play a sick two minute sample here as loudly as possible. The track is from his Signal ’63 EP.

merry belated xmas

Apparently this new mix by Justice was supposed to be Fabriclive 37, but it was turned down by the Fabric-powers-that-be because it was too short. So instead, Justice sent it out as their 2007 Christmas card for all of us to enjoy. (Link expires in two weeks.)

Thanks to Miss Leiann for the tip!
